The Mill of Kintail is just outside of Almonte, Ontario.  The Mill of Kintail Conservation Area is a 154 acre preserve and features an 1830’s grist mill that is now a museum.

Next up is the Blakeney Rapids, also just outside of Almonte.  The plan was to photograph the rising sun, fall colours and the mist.  Mother nature had other ideas, but it was still a great morning.

After Blakeney I took a detour on my way home to Hogs Back Falls, officially the Prince of Wales Falls.  A dam was built in the 1830’s when the Rideau Canal was built to allow for the natural flow of the river and to protect against spring flooding; a channel was excavated for this water to flow and the falls were born.  In the heart of the city, it is a beautiful spot at any time of year.
